Jheanell Thompson March 28, 2009 LEH301/0792 Black Image Midterm Research Observation Midterm Observation On March eighteenth, 2009 at Lehman College the school facilitated an Educational College Summit for staff, approaching understudies and ebb and flow undergrads. The theme depended on â€Å"Increase in the Number of New York City High School Graduates Enrolling at CUNY Colleges,† which shows the ascending of Blacks and Hispanic High School understudies from New York City Public Schools that are enlisting into CUNY multi year senior and junior colleges. More understudies enlisting from the government funded schools into CUNY universities is the confirmation of the training changes that are working and planning understudies better for advanced education opportunities,† city hall leader Bloomberg had cited in his discourse at the school culmination. We will compose a custom article test on Meeting Elderly Person or on the other hand any comparable point just for you Request Now The highest point was instructive the motivation behind why is on the grounds that College Summit immerses these workshop understudies with assets, for example, composing mentors, tutors and prepared advocates, so as to impart in them the conviction that they in reality are ‘college material,’ while giving them the data and information to select school. School Summit’s is to build the school enlistment pace of low-pay understudies. With secondary schools, universities, bosses, network pioneers and the open area, College Summit is to work to guarantee that each understudy who can make it in school makes it to school. A developing number of schools, instructors and guides presently have the apparatuses through expert improvement preparing gave by College Summit on the best way to best help the requirements of understudies through the school application process. Teachers are additionally utilizing College Summit’s educational plan to separate the application procedure into more straightforwardness. Schools, as well, presently have the sort of information and bolster they have to focus on school access for all understudies. For planning of secondary school understudy I accept understudies do prevail at finishing their instruction, advancing into advanced education can seem, by all accounts, to be prevailing with impediments that can't be survived. However, we have low salary families that ought to be decide in accepting an advanced degree when the understudy wants to advance through school. Low salary understudies can be helped with budgetary guide from state and government elements that will permit them to bear the cost of advanced education. Likewise, if understudies that originates from families that have recently gone to school, are almost certain too effectively for understudies entering school. In this way, since one of the objectives of secondary schools in the state funded training framework is to plan understudies forever following secondary school, it gives the idea that piece of that readiness ought to be for the understudy to comprehend the procedures related with entering advanced education. One thing that the city hall leader talks on was High School understudies are presently getting their secondary school certificate and entering school simultaneously. Today High School understudies are graduating on time is on the ascent, since right now it is more earnestly for dropout understudies to land positions than for understudies with secondary school confirmations. These days, understudies are required to have great aptitudes so as to land great paying positions. The main way they can get those abilities is by remaining in school and getting a recognition to demonstrate they have gained the aptitudes they requirement for the activity. To me I feel that High School Students ought not be allowed to drop out of school since it will be more diligently for them to land great paying positions. In our nation’s biggest networks today our understudies of shading, principally African American and Latino are presently completing secondary school. I surmise they presently understanding that without a High School certificate can go anyplace throughout everyday life, particularly in today’s hard economy we are confronting. The fact is to connect with understudies and point them to the correct course by subsidizing tutoring programs, bolster gatherings and so on. I for instance, I appreciate being an undergrad more than being a secondary school understudy. In the time that I have been in school, I have seen that more opportunity is permitted to understudies in school than in secondary school. Such decisions as the note taking, the earth, or class determination are a couple of instances of how school is less prohibitive than secondary school. In view of the instructive opportunity and having more authority over my training, I find being an undergrad more pleasant than being a secondary school understudy. Tutoring is a significant angle in our lives and we should experience numerous means to advanced education; the most significant strides in the public arena today, are secondary school and school. Albeit secondary school and school focus on a similar objective, school is the mindful factor. Since, I needed to learn on my own special, since my first year of school as a green bean till now as a senior in school. Step by step instructions to refer to Interviewing Elderly Person, Papers

ROWLING.Famously, the idea for Harry Potter first came to J.K. Rowling on a train ride from Manchester to London back in1990. She was overwhelmed by this interconnected world of a boy wizard who survived a tragic accident when he was young. As soon as the ideas hit her, she started writing and could never quite put the idea of Harry to rest ever since .However, less than a year later, on December 30, 1990 a great personal tragedy stroke J.K. After complications of Multiple Sclerosis and a tough battle with the disease of 10 years, her mother passed away.Rowling fell into a deep debilitating depression that kept her away from her work. I stopped pretending to myself that I was anything other than what I was, and began to direct all my energy into finishing the only work that mattered to me.’She finished three chapters of her book and proposed it to the twelve greatest publishers in the United Kingdom. They all rejected her. But J.K. was no longer afraid of rejection and failure. She persevered.A small publishing company, Bloomsbury Publishing agreed to read the manuscript. After years of fighting for her idea, Harry Potter was published. The first edition was in a humble amount of 1000 books. THE CASE OF STEVE JOBS.Steve was born in the United States, California, on February 24th, 1955. His parents had put him up for adoption. His family name, Jobs, coming from his adopted parents Paul and Clara Jobs. A lower middle class family.Growing up at Silicon Valley, Jobs would be surrounded by engineers in his neighborhood, always busy with some gadget in their garage in the weekends. Always working, not always achieving. There, at age 13, he met 18-year-old Stephen Wozniak, someone who would play a very important role later in his life. After a brief attempt and failure of studying Liberal Arts, Jobs went back to California and worked for the game company Atari, while growing closer to Woz.Wozniak, at that point, was attending the Homebrew Computer Club and was working towards building personal computer kits. Jobs thought it was a good idea to offer Woz’s product to software enthusiasts from the neighborhood who were eager to try and write software themselves. Together, the two started a little venture for that purpose, called Apple.Wozniak created the Apple II computer, a powerful system that would support color graphics. It was this prototype that helped Steve Jobs convince Mike Markkula to invest a quarter million dollars in Apple and set it on the path of greatness.Jobs was always focused on the competition, insisting to add Graphic User Interface and a mouse to the next Apple project, the Lisa computer, named after his daughter. His hot temper and his perfectionism got him kicked off the Lisa project. Which he did not take that well.He then took on another small project, called the Macintosh, adding most of the features he was seeing for the Lisa, but insisting the Mac was to be created very user friendly â€" ‘as easy to use as a toaster’.He and his team were antagonizing the teams working on the Apple II and Lisa, when the latter seemed to be heading towards failure. John Scul ley, whom Jobs had hired as an CEO was supporting the Macintosh. After a short success the sales of the Macintosh were plummeting, but Jobs refused to acknowledge that, he kept acting as the saving grace of Apple. He started acting out against Sculley, who had now withdrawn his support â€" trying to get him fired. Instead, the board of directors agreed it was Jobs who was toxic to the company.Steve Jobs was put in a position of no power in Apple and, powerless, resigned within a few months.‘At thirty, I was out. And very publicly out. What had been the focus of my entire adult life was gone. And it was devastating… I was a very public failure and I even thought about running away from the Valley. But something slowly came to dawn on me. I still loved what I did.‘Discouraged and at the same time full of himself, Jobs decided to incorporate a competing company that would specialize in higher education, despite Apple’s threats to sue. It was called NeXT. It was a good product bu t a failure nevertheless. It wasn’t selling. At that point Jobs felt disassociated from his work. He was losing his passion and he was focusing more on his new family. He decided to invest in the graphics division of George Lucas’s company. He accumulated a team. And created Pixar. in 1991, Disney signed with Pixar for making a full-feature computer-animated movie. Toy Story was born. The success of the movie allowed Steve Jobs to take the company public. The company he actually considered his ‘hobby’ and not his business made his net worth rise to over $1.5 billion â€" five times the money he had ever made at Apple in the 1980s.Jobs was rejuvenated. He took advantage of a CEO change in Apple and restored his place in the company by selling the NeXT software to Apple. And as of the following year, he would once again be Apple’s CEO.How to react to rejection like Steve Jobs?Take a good look on the inside. Recognize your failures and apologize about what you did wrong.Don’t lose your passion. Work towards what you love.Have faith your passion will lead you back to success. ‘Of course it was impossible to connect the dots looking forward’, says Jobs, ‘But it was very-very clear looking backwards… You have to trust the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something… because believing that the dots will connect down the road will give you the confidence to follow your heart even when it leads you off the well-worn path. And that will make all the difference’Watch Steve Jobs’ Stanford Commencement speech. STAY AUTHENTIC. Harlem Renaissance Issues - Free Essay Example

Aaron Douglas The poignant and impactful painting, Into Bondage, hangs in the Negro Hall of Life as a powerful reminder of the history and journey of slavery. Aaron Douglas, who was a leader of the Harlem Renaissance during the 1920s and 30s, was chosen to illustrate murals for the Texas Centennial Exposition in Dallas. A passage derived from a letter he wrote to Langston Hughes in 1925 encourages a new way of expressing art from the black culture. He writes, â€Å"Let’s bare our arms and plunge them deep through laughter, through pain, sorrow, hope, and disappointment into the very depths of the souls of our people. Let’s sing it, dance it, write it, paint it. Let’s do the impossible.† One of the four paintings he was commissioned to create, Into Bondage, is one that shows some of the raw, brutal, harrowing, and the stressful moments during an African American’s life when all they’ve known up until that very moment was being taken from them. Standing shackled, possibly beaten with shattered souls, their feet touched their homeland for the last time as they watched the ships arrive to take them as prisoners to an unknown future. Although they were full of despair and hopelessness, the light from the North Star shining brightly down on them filled them with hope that they would eventually find their way back home and gain their freedom back. This painting was a major acknowledgement of the hardships and obstacles African Americans had to jump over and endure to get to where they are, and still, they are perpetually fighting for their rights. The Harlem Renaissance was an era of time to commemorate their victories and freedom while also using art as one example of how far they had come and as a daily reminder to fight for their rights, the human right. Billie Holiday â€Å"It is Billie Holiday who was, and still remains, the greatest musical influence on me,† said Frank Sinatra. Billie Holiday’s song, Strange Fruit, was originally a poem that was written by a white Jewish school teacher, who went by Lewis Allan, to uncover the problem of lynching in America. The song was considered to be the first great song of protest. Billie Holiday was one of the first black women to work with an orchestra. She was a major influence to the Harlem Renaissance and also to everyone around her. When she first wanted to record the song, she was told no and wasn’t allowed because of its meaning, yet she persevered. It was a cry for civil rights and she wanted nothing more than to shine a light onto the plights and struggles of black americans. As a sign and symbol of resistance against the oppression, she included in the act of singing the song, a ritual of sorts. Billie Holiday, also known as Lady Day, would turn off the lights in the room and would have a single spotlight shining just on her face as a way to force the crowd of mostly whites to â€Å"face† and really â€Å"hear† the lyrics and get the meaning behind the lyrics. Strange Fruit compared the hangings of black americans and their body to that of fruit, once beautiful in its early growing period left hanging to rot, perfect for insects and birds to pluck at. Though beauty and sweet scents may surround, what hung among that was ugly and bitter. Just as a neglected fruit will rot and become infested, black americans were neglected as well, forced to hang in the trees amongst the sweet smells, killed to then have their blood drip onto the tree limbs, leaves and ground, left to rot. Billie Holiday used her voice by singing songs to draw attention to the horrible treatment of black people in the past, as well as the current struggles. She sang with her heart, from a place of grief not only for the community, her people, but also in memory of her father, who, being a war veteran, died from exposure from mustard gas, who died because he was denied medical care. Fashion Eye catching, classy, and modern for the time, clothing designed by an African American designer, Anne Lowe, very quickly became the most sought after clothing style by most americans and specifically the African American community. The clothing of the Victorian era was dying off and during the Harlem Renaissance zoot suits, flapper dresses, red silk panty hose, pearls, feather accessories, and modern stylish hats to name a few filled the streets and stores. The people showed off their style as a way of presenting themselves as having money or being of influence. Hair was neat, smoothed down and back and most times covered by a hat, shoes were made for dancing and most importantly for the women, the added accessories were what made the outfit. The women would often hand sew their dresses, adding rhinestones and jewels, feathers and decorations, finishing off the look with a string of pearls around their necks and silk gloves on their hands. It was a true turning point in the history of fashion.

How to Use the Metric System in Spanish

You may speak Spanish well, but if youre talking to typical Spaniards or Latin Americans using inches, cups, miles, and gallons, chances are they wont understand you well even if they know words such as pulgadas and millas. With a few exceptions—among them, Spanish speakers inside the United States—Spanish speakers throughout the world use the metric system of measurements in everyday life. Although local or indigenous measurements are in use in some places, and American/British measurements are occasionally used for some specific instances (gasoline is sold by the gallon in some parts of Latin America, for example), the metric system is universally understood in the Spanish-speaking world. The metric system has widespread usage even in Puerto Rico, even though it is a U.S. territory. British Measurements and Their Metric Equivalents in Spanish Here are the most common British measurements and their metric equivalents in Spanish and English: Length (Longitud) 1 centimeter (centà metro) 0.3937 inches (pulgadas)1 inch (pulgada) 2.54 centimeters (centà metros)1 foot (pie) 30.48 centimeters (centà metros)1 foot (pie) 0.3048 meters (metros)1 yard (yarda) 0.9144 meters (metros)1 meter (metro) 1.093613 yards (yardas)1 kilometer (kilà ³metro) 0.621 miles (millas)1 mile (milla) 1.609344 kilometers (kilà ³metros) Weight (Peso) 1 gram (gramo) 0.353 ounces (onzas)1 ounce (onza) 28.35 grams (gramos)1 pound (libra) 453.6 grams (gramos)1 pound (libra) 0.4563 kilograms (kilogramos)1 kilogram (kilogramo) 2.2046 pounds (libras)1 American ton (tonelada americana) 0.907 metric tons (toneladas mà ©tricas)1 metric ton (tonelada mà ©trica) 1.1 metric tons (toneladas mà ©tricas) Volume/capacity (volumen/capacidad) 1 milliliter (mililitro) 0.034 fluid ounces (onzas fluidas)1 milliliter (mililitro) 0.2 teaspoons (cucharaditas)1 fluid ounce (onza fluida) 29.6 milliliters (mililitros)1 teaspoon (cucharadita) 5 milliliters (mililitros)1 cup (taza) 0.24 liters (litros)1 quart (cuarto) 0.95 liters (litros)1 liter (litro) 4.227 cups (tazas)1 liter (litro) 1.057 quarts (cuartos)1 liter (litro) 0.264 U.S. gallons (galones americanos)1 U.S. gallon (galà ³n americano) 3.785 liters (litros) Area (superficie) 1 square centimeter (centà metro cuadrado) 0.155 square inches (pulgadas cuadradas)1 square inch (pulgada cuadrada) 6.4516 square centimeters (centà metros cuadrados)1 square foot (pie cuadrado) 929 square centimeters (centà metros cuadrados)1 acre (acre) 0.405 hectares (hectà ¡reas)1 hectare (hectà ¡rea) 2.471 acres (acres)1 square kilometer (kilà ³metro cuadrado) 0.386 square miles (millas cuadradas)1 square mile (milla cuadrada) 2.59 square kilometers (kilà ³metros cuadrados) Of course, mathematical accuracy isnt always necessary. For example, if you remember that a kilogram is a bit more than 2 pounds and a liter is a bit more than a quart, thats close enough for many purposes. And if youre driving, remember that a speed-limit sign that says 100 kilà ³metros por hora means you shouldnt be driving more than 62 miles per hour. A Sustainable America is Just Part of the Games The countdown begins as humanity ascends to the battle field. We don’t want to kill one another, but winning the fight means feeding our families for a year. How did we get to this post-apocalyptic place? If only we had paid attention to the signs of our declining surroundings. While North America has not found, itself subjected to the reaping of the Hunger Games, author Suzanne Collins eludes to this fate in her young-adult, dystopian novel â€Å"The Hunger Games†. As the topic of sustainability becomes widely discussed, the concerns of the state of our planet continues to increase along with the overall well-being and equality of those who inhabit it. Throughout her novel, the writer represents†¦show more content†¦In understanding the ways in which Collins has demonstrated the negative development of a post-apocalyptic sustainable country, it is vital to understand what the initiative would represent in a posit ive, equal sustainable movement. As author, Christian Weisser states in his work â€Å"Sustainability†, â€Å"[we] may recognize that sustainability has to do with preserving or maintaining resources†, but the true definition â€Å"is the capacity to endure or continue† (Weisser 3). It is vital to the encouragement of sustainability that resources are maintained for the present and available for the future, and while this concept can be understood economically, factors such as â€Å"social and environmental consequences of human activity† account for the movement as well (Weisser 5). These factors are the foundation of the â€Å"three pillars of sustainability† (Weisser 5). The ideal sustainability model as the author describes involves: People, Planet and Profit; each pillar prioritizes a different matter in their respected categories (i.e. equality, eradication of poverty, protecting the environment and long-term production and management of reso urces). Yet, throughout â€Å"The Hunger Games†, the model appears to be built to hold one pillar: The Capitol. While the games appear to be a form of entertainment for Panem’s wealthy and powerful, theShow MoreRelatedSummer Olymoics23416 Words   |  94 PagesOlympics From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search 2012 Olympics redirects here. Leadership essay Free Essays

It is a sign of good leadership when vision is clearly defined and communicated throughout the organization. A major advantage leaders with a vision enjoy is that their standards are not measured by what others consider acceptable. Visionaries have no predetermined boundaries. We will write a custom essay sample on Leadership essay or any similar topic only for you Order Now Michael Mitchell of Regency Company is one leader with a good sense of vision. As a business leader, he does not try to base his growth rate on his peers’ performances. Instead, his personal standards are higher than—or different from—the norm. Likewise, his perceptions are closely in tune with those of his customers. Fixing this vision firmly in his mind consistent with customer needs is, according to him, a prerequisite to his success. I worked with Michael on Project Dynamo where we had several problems. He developed a set of strategies that involved circular thinking on the basis that optimal strategies will evolve gradually and be very interdependent. We encountered several problems then. A business, they say, is most prone to failure during its first three or so years of operation – the so-called ‘valley of death’ years. A key to getting through these early years is to avoid the obvious mistakes. Generally speaking, businesses fail for significant and substantial reasons that are often very evident to outsiders. Insiders often fail to see them because of their closeness and determination. I worked with Michael on Project Dynamism where we had several problems such as: A.   The company needed a reinvention. It was the same drink that was sold in schools but nothing much changed in packaging or marketing B. The employees had a low morale because they thought management would be downsizing. C. Sales was swindling in away. The staff obviously was not motivated at all. And here is what he did: A. Being the main innovator in the company, Michael opened the process of innovation in order to influence people. Innovation is an incredibly powerful method that he uses to improve, awaken or save this business. Innovation allows him to keep all the good points of Smart Drink such as its professional people and its hold of the market. It allows him to get all the working parts together while he changes the corporate mission until he can find a working formula. B. He empowered his people by encouraging employees to go the extra mile for the customers. Each staff is empowered to use his or her own best judgment to handle customer complaints. Every employee is authorized to resolve a guest complaint. C. He spent quite a sum to on the company’s image. This included training his people in customer relationship. He motivated the team by telling them that he would give incentives when the company’s earnings increase to 20 percent from the past year. It was a realizable goal because people were slowly getting his idea of good customer relations. After he organized the marketing of Smart drink, I marveled at how he managed the situation by doing the following: 1. He emphasized in trainings that the individual, first and foremost, must be respected. 2 He focused on the principle that the customer must be given the best possible service. 3 There was no compromise to excellence and outstanding performance. This must be pursued at all times. All three of these wonderful bedrock principles focusing on doing what’s right for the customer have guided Smart drink for years. Michael could also be understanding and direct. When faced with the insecurities of a customer: A. He gave exceptional service. He insisted on its execution by every employee, B. He decreed that even when there is a thirty-day complete guarantee, and a dissatisfied customer wants a refund six weeks after a purchase, in a truly customer-driven company, an employee could rectify the situation without having to ask permission from a supervisor. C. He says that, â€Å"When the written guarantee states that the company is not liable, the company’s unwritten commitment to service takes precedent.† Michael as Team Leader – As a team leader, Michael is creative. He makes sure to get the best results from employees, which involves managing his relationship with them. Honesty goes a long way toward coping with the evolving relationships between employees and employers. Michael as Client Leader – Michael encouraged that employees become enthusiastic and cheerful when they meet clients. The friendly atmosphere that these employees create cannot be found in a company manual. It is an intangible quality that is not a result of low prices or no frills. Clearly, the Smart drink management team has earned the respect of its people. Michael as 360-Degree Manager – He embraced constant change. This means that when competition responds to his strategy, he was ready to implement his contingency plan immediately. Sometimes, even before Plan A is implemented; he was planning ahead to introduce Plan B and Plan C, always staying a few steps ahead of the competition. Being the main innovator in the company, Michael opened the process of innovation in order to be of influenced to people. Innovation is an incredibly powerful method that he uses to improve, awaken or save this business. Innovation allows him to keep all the good points of Smart Drink such as its professional people and its hold of the market. It allows him to get all the working parts together.    How to cite Leadership essay, Essay examples

Case Study of Airaisa Airline Plane-Free-Samples-Myassignmenthelp

Question: Analyse the Case Study of Airaisa Airline Plane 8051 Crash in 2014 Decision Making Problem Solving. Answer: Introduction The report is regarding the Indonesia AirAsia Flight 8501 (QZ8501/AWQ8501) which was scheduled to carry passengers from Surabaya, Indonesia, to Singapore. The international passenger flight was operated by AirAsia Group affiliate Indonesia AirAsia. The flight met with an accident on 8 December 2014, while operating on the route, crashing into the Java Sea due to bad weather. The incident killed all 155 passengers and seven crew on board. The debris and human remains were collected two days later in the Java Sea. The wreckage was found on the sea floor on 3 January 2015(ABEND, 2015). The flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder were recovered by 13 January. The aircraft was hindered during an unusual steep climb and had been incapable to recuperate. On 1 December 2015, the Indonesian National Transportation Safety Committee stated that the incidence was caused due to the sequence of events causing crash due to malfunction in the rudder travel limiter unit. The pilots reply to t he 104-degree roll of the aircraft and miscommunication lead to chain of events leading loss of aircraft. The air crash became the second-deadliest in Indonesian territory, behind Garuda Indonesia Flight 152 in 1997. It was considered as the second deadliest crash involving A320 and the third deadliest involving an Airbus A320 family (Lab, 2015). The aircraft crash lead to series of consequences generating multiple allegations on the AirAsia. It further leads to economic crash and had a long term impact (Smith, 2015). Purpose of Report The report is related to examination of Air crash of Indonesia AirAsia Flight 8501 (QZ8501/AWQ8501). The incidence leads to series of impacts on the Indonesian economy. Such incidence creates distrust in the airliner and hence creates disruption. The AirAsia incidences lead to multiple theories against their goodwill. One of the main purposes is to examine the consequences that lead to this event and further affected the unsettled events coming up in future. AirAsia suffered widespread allegations due to the incidence and witnessed a series of fall in the share market. The group is a pioneer of low -cost model in Asia, and has built a strong reputation for affordable and safe flying. This has further questioned the credibility of AirAsias long history in aviation industry. An analysis into the matter and how it affected companys position wherein causing a fall in the share price. It showcases the investor behavior due to the fall in the stock market during the period. It further prov ides recommendations to the company and the readers regarding the air crash. This has further greater implications on the airliner in order to reduce such incidence (Trask, 2016). Company, Problem and Approach Used to Solve The air crash was known as one the second-deadliest incidence in the history of Indonesian territory. It has affected people trust over the airliner and hampered the peoples faith for a long time-period. The fatal crash occurred due to bad weather condition. The deadliest incident created a deep concern in mind of people regarding the credibility of aircraft. The probable reason behind the crash was due to the bad weather. This accident has created a concern among people, whether to trust the brand or not. AirAsia is known across the world for holding minority interest in countries like Thailand, the Philippines, India; the low cost airliner is carrying out facilities in order to manage the operations in the cost-friendly way. Incidence like this has questioned the credibility of the airliner and shaken the faith of people. AirAsia has flown more than 200 Million passengers across the world, including its long haul arm AirAsia X. There has never been an incidence regarding the lost o f flight or accident. The apparent incidence caused due to the miscommunication in between the pilot and the co-pilot due to the technical problem. The Airbus was en-route to Singapore from Surabaya, wherein it lost the contact with air traffic control after 42 Minutes after takeoff. Seven crew members and 155 passengers were on board. The wreckage and bodies were later collected from the Java Sea. There were multiple theories suggesting the reason behind the incidence. Investigators state that the Airliner lost the control of the plane leading to accident (Otto and Pasztor, 2015). Another theory suggests that the incidence was caused due to technical problem with the Rudder Travel Limiter; The estimated interruption to RTL occurred around 3 times in a space of 13minutes resulting in disengagement to auto-pilot. The loss in auto-pilot function created a miscommunication in between the pilot and the co-pilot leading to manual fly. According to the information collected from the two b lack boxes; there was a miscommunication in between the two pilots. The pilot instructed the co-pilot to pull down which literally means sending the plane to 38,000 feet. There is a literal misrepresentation of instructions as given by the pilot to the co-pilot (Barreveld, 2015). The findings from the year long investigations suggest that there was no standardised terminology. Co-pilot was initially taken control of the plane as the pilot was fixing the RTL. Further investigations suggested that the plane faced the same issue 23 times since January 2014. The problem occurred due to a cracked solder joint when exposed to extreme temperature (Koren, 2015). The investigation detects two reasons behind the incidence resulting in plane crash. The malfunctioning of RTL and subsequent flight crew action resulted in the accident. It was beyond the capability of the crew to recover. The series of technical failure resulted in the incidence. The joint investigation by Australian, French, Singaporean and Malaysian authorities has pointed out the weakness in pilot training in dealing with such situations. It is further recommended by the authorities that the pilots have to be given training regarding the recovery of plane (Pounian and Green, 2015). Analysis From above it is clear that analysis it is clear that the It is very well clear from the scenario that the AirAsia pilots are not given with a proper training. There were sudden changes in the market leading to change in airliner in an effective way. This has a prolong impact on the history of aircraft industry. This has a direct influence on the airliner and influenced the factors that were later responsible for the ill-fate of the aircraft. It is further justified that the airliner has a direct implication on the flight and impact the flight had on the long term sustainability (Brajawidagda, Chatfield and Reddick, 2015). This is important enough while analysing the factors that are associated with the incidence. This is important in order to avoid such incidences in the aviation industry. This is important enough for handling the situation in the most effective way. More the less, this incidence is an example of ignorance that required to be dealt with utmost care. It is clear from that the steep fly angle in attempting to over-fly a huge thundercloud the Air Asia plane, flying from Surabaya to Singapore in the early morning of 28 December 2014, entered the thundercloud. Jet-engines stopped working without presence of oxygen. Air Asia flight QZ8501, a twin engine Airbus 320, unfortunately flew into such a bubble of CO2 the aircraft made an "unbelievably" steep climb, from 32,000 to 38,000 feet, possibly pushing it beyond the Airbus A320's limit. Due to the high altitude and steep angle of climb, the plane lost control and lost the balance. As per the research, The CO2 escaping from an unknown source in the earths crust resulted in high winds at this altitude, leading the incidence (Matsuno and Ilmi, 2015). There were sudden disturbance in the flight recorder (black box) from Flight 8501 can disprove or otherwise validate this theory. The possible reason behind the incidence can only be determined through the recordings. There are multiple theories one out of many possible explanations for the accident. The crucial point to look for is the relatively sudden loss of thrust due to failure of both engines at about 36,000 feet (Gerken, et al 2016). There is a need to conduct an investigation into the matter like - Investigation of possible volcanic activity in the region. This is to avoid any repeat of stalling aircraft, in case more CO2 is released. Critical Evaluation of the Approach Used One of the main reasons behind the incidence was due to ineffective training. This is critical for gaining an effective insight. There were questions on the credibility of the airliner that has affected the company. People avoided the use of Aircraft after the incidence took place. There are situation where the critics have slammed the company for using inefficient aircrafts (Elliot, 2015). Improvements Suggested in the Approach used There are consistent issues in the airliner that required to be addressed in a well effective way. There is a necessity to adopt a standardised training process. The pilots are not being provided with a proper training that in return has affected the brand. Reports suggested that the Airliner was not following any standardized guidelines that created the confusion. There is a necessity to address the problem in a well and effective way so as to manage the problem with a correct approach. This is important for gaining effectiveness in drawing efficiency in the best possible way (LA Times, 2015). Other Available Approaches Another critical issue found in the case study is regarding the use of failed aircraft parts. The incident could have been avoided if the RTL was repaired at an early stage. There is a constant issue that is been faced by the airliner. Such an incidence created questions in the mind of the travellers and the other stakeholders. It is important to repair the aircraft in order to avoid such incidences in future. The Best Approach The best approach is to find out the most appropriate solution to the problem and to effectively implement the plan in order to eliminate the repercussion of such incidence. This is important to eliminate such incidences that might affect the company later. This is necessary for implementing one of the most effective ways to reduce the ill-impact (Auxier, 2015; Bellamy, 2015). Stock Market Analysis After the incidence, AirAsia share price fell 7.8 percent. This was their biggest one-day drop in more than three years after its Flight QZ8501 went missing. A lot many travelers lost faith in the airline. This has affected the company profits for a short period. AirAsia took the whole responsibility and believed in shifting people negative attitude towards the airline (Wise, 2015). The Kuala Lumpur-traded shares of AirAsia had fallen 7.8 percent as of 0320 GMT, their biggest daily drop since Sept. 22, 2011. The stock had dropped as much as 12.9 percent after the opening, compared with a 0.4 percent decline in Kuala Lumpurs benchmark index. The fall in investors faith has affected the brand and later created a question in their mind. They find it difficult for them to manage the interest of people in the company (Plucinska, 2015). About 59.5 million AirAsia shares had been traded. That was about 5.2 times the stocks average full-day volume over the past 30 days. The fall in the price of AirAsia share was considered to be the highest fall after 2011. However, as expected the price of share went up after sometime (REUTERS, AGENCE FRANCE-PRESSE, 2015). Reaction of Investors to Problem and Solution There was a drastic fall in the AirAsias share after the incident took place. The entire market was bewildered after a fall in the market. Investor lost the hope in the company for a short period of time. AirAsia try building customer faith that was lost after the crash. It is very obvious from the research that has a sustainable impact on the investor. A negative image of the brand was coated for the short period of time. Customers believed that the company is not trustworthy enough to gain an effective market share. The fall in investors faith has affected the brand and later created a question in their mind. They find it difficult for them to manage the interest of people in the company. People do lose faith in a brand after such an incidence. AirAsia replenish the lost faith of people in the company. The CEO of AirAsia came forward and took complete responsibility of the incidence. It was pretty much understood that people require and effective plan in order to gear up people interest (McGee, 2015). Trend Analysis of Share Price during the Period The following data shows the change in the price of AirAsia during the event. It states forward the changes in the fall of the prices. The AirAsia share price fell 7.8 percent at the starting stage. It started recovering in July 2015. The chart represents the changes in market share of AirAsia after the incidence. This directly showcases the impact of this incidence on the company (Reuters, 2015). Conclusions To conclude, the incidence had a long lasting impact in the history of AirAsia. It can be seen that Airliner faced multiple impacts due to the incidence. People lost faith in the airliner that has shaken the faith of people. It is important enough for taking inference of such incidences and developing a proper strategy in order to avoid any such incidence in future. The report provide with multiple theories. It examines the consequences that lead to this event and further affected the share market. Summary of Key learning Points The aircraft crash lead to series of consequences generating multiple allegations on the AirAsia The deadliest incident created a deep concern in mind of people regarding the credibility of aircraft The failure was caused due to the RTL and ineffective training to the pilots. The share market was affected due to the incidence for a short period which later started recovering in July 2015. Recommendations To company It is recommended that, AirAsia need to incorporate an effective training process. The problem can only be eliminated if the company is able to manage the situation with a correct approach. This is important for gaining effectiveness in drawing efficiency in the best possible way. To readers It is recommended that, for safety sake the customers need to keep faith in the airliner. It is further suggested that the travellers should refrain themselves from using airline that are continuously facing the issues. References Abend, L.2015. A Leaders Framework for Decision Making Essay Example

A Leaders Framework for Decision Making Essay The leader response for different situations adds to his experiences and background, shaping his framework for carrying plans and making decisions. But first we have to know that situations varies in its complexity and surrounding circumstances; based on these situations characteristics the leader is able to take decisions and maintain stability and safety for surrounding team. I like the statement stated by the writer â€Å"GOOD LEADERSHIP IS NOT A ONE-SIZE-FITS- ALL PROPOSITION†. Each leader has a framework matches with his own style; we could agree that there must be a wide range of common characteristics with minimum level of acquisition like Pro-activity, Flexibility, Exceptional Communication Skills, Self Managed, Analytic, and so on. In the following article we get introduced to a new framework for understanding complexity, broaden the traditional approach to leadership and decision making and form a new perspective based on â€Å"Complexity Science†. This framework evolved through previous applications, helping in many industries like Pharmaceutical, Governmental, Industrial, and many else. This frame work sorts the issues facing the leaders into five contexts defined by the nature of the relationship between cause and effect. First, Simple Context â€Å"The Domain of Best Practice† the only advantage for this context type In my point of view – Is that the right answer is self-evident and undisputed; decisions are unquestioned because all parties share an understanding. While there is many disadvantages for such context; issues may be incorrectly classified within this domain because they have been oversimplified. We will write a custom essay sample on A Leaders Framework for Decision Making specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now We will write a custom essay sample on A Leaders Framework for Decision Making specifically for you FOR ONLY $16.38 $13.9/page Hire Writer We will write a custom essay sample on A Leaders Framework for Decision Making specifically for you FOR ONLY $16.38 $13.9/page Hire Writer Also people may get blinded to new ways of thinking as a result of their perspective of thinking they acquired through past experience, training, and success. Another disadvantage of the Simple Context is that when things appear to be going smoothly, leaders often become complacent, reacting too late for context changes. As a remedy for such disadvantages leaders need to avoid micromanaging and stay connected to what is happening in order to spot any change in context. Since hindsight is no longer leads to foresight after a shift in context, a corresponding change in management style may be called for. Complicated Context† the next ordered context in Cynefin Framework, unlike simple ones it may contain multiple right answers. In complicated context we must sense, analyze, and respond. Complicated Context encounters some disadvantages like entrained thinking leads to â€Å"analysis paralysis†, also it takes a lot of time for reaching decisions, there is always trade-offs between finding the right answer and simply making a decision. Leaders during this type of context must listen to the experts, welcoming novel thoughts and solutions from others. Complex Context† is different from the complicated one in that right answers can’t be ferreted out, other than having at least one right answer already exists in the Complicated Context. It is the domain to which much of contemporary business has shifted. Leaders who try to impose orders in a complex context will fail, but those who set the stage, step back a bit, allow patterns to emerge, and determine which ones are desirable will succeed. â€Å"Chaotic Context† is completely different from my perspective, belongs to Do-Think-Do style, an example of an extroverted person. In Chaotic Context, searching for right answers would be pointless, the relationships between cause and effect are impossible to determine because they shift constantly and no manageable patterns exist. The Chaotic domain is nearly always the best place for leaders to impel innovation. There is no a best context or domain to use for the whole of your life situations. Truly adept leaders know not only how to identify the context they are working in, but also how to change their behavior to match. I believe in this as a role of a pro-active. Flexible leader needed nowadays facing the variety of situations stress, importance levels. You can use chaotic domain but u have to manage chaos and innovation in parallel. You can use complex domain but don’t forget using the tools of managing in such context; open discussions, set barriers, stimulate attractors, encourage dissent and diversity, manage starting conditions, and monitor for emergence. Finally you have to customize your preferable domain according to the facing situation, going in and out between them without losing your own framework style, maintaining your profile as an effective leader.

Article Questions Example Article Questions – Article Example Program Supervisor’s 2 March Article questions Necessity of change for an international organization It is necessary for an international organization to change because of the dynamic and competitive nature of the global environment. Benefits of effective change management also make change necessary. In addition, change leads to cost effectiveness of an organization towards competitiveness because of lower prices. It also offers efficiencies for other advantages over competitors. Change is therefore necessary for an international organization for efficient and effective operations towards competitive advantage (Project Management Institute 5). Requirements for change within an international organizationOne of the requirements for an international organization to change is well-defined objectives. This establishes standards for performance before and during a change process and motivates stakeholders to support the change. Commitment by the senior management, application of sta ndardized management practices, and effective communication with stakeholders; before, during and after change, are necessary (Project Management Institute 6). Recommended steps to manage people through organizational changeAs a CEO, I would recommend two steps to my organization for managing people through change. The first step is development and implementation of â€Å"project and program management culture† in the organization while the second step would be development of positive attitude among employees towards the organization and its change initiatives (Project Management Institute 9).Opinion on permanent change sustainabilityContrary to the article’s position that change should be sustained permanently, I believe that change should only be sustained while it is relevant. This is because of the dynamic environment that may render a change ineffective after some time. Thoughts about effectiveness of organizations’ adeptOrganizations’ adept at the i terative process of change cannot necessarily enable longer-term sustainable change because of dynamic forces affecting change, such as effects of technology and factors around employees utility. American and Chinese Business Ethic Culture Essay

American and Chinese Business Ethic Culture - Essay Example The USA corporate receives numerous and strong incentives to promote adherence to the business ethics and corporate code of conduct from the government. Thus, the USA corporate has the high tendency of establishing ethic programs based on the existing government legal framework, thus making the American ethical culture excessively legalistic (Ardichvili, Jondle & Kowske, 2009). The overall effect of the excessively legalistic American ethical culture is that the American business environment is less flexible, thus creating little room for interpreting rules more loosely based on the situations and the relationships involved. In this respect, ethics does not play an important role in the American business environment, since it is simply geared towards legal compliance (Ardichvili, Jondle & Kowske, 2009). Nevertheless, the American business ethical culture benefits the wider population, due to the creation of a universally and equitable ground for establishing and running the business, by limiting the extent to which the unethical business conduct such as corruption can persist in this business environment. On the other hand, the Chinese business culture is defined by a stronger and dominant ethical dimension, as opposed to strict compliance with the law. The Chinese business culture is largely defined by the need to ‘preserve face’, which then means that many illegal business tendencies are overlooked for the sake of presenting the Chinese business environment as friendly and accommodative.

Giant Snakes Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Giant Snakes - Essay Example Boa belongs to Squamata order and Boidae family. Boa is found in Madagascar, Papua and the Pacific islands. The remarkable feature of this giant snake is its color. "Boa constrictors are pinkish or tan in color, with dark crossbands. They range in length is from 20 inches (50 cm) as neonates to 13 feet (3.9 m) as adults" (Boa 2007). The most colorful snakes are found in Amazon basin. The female are larger than male species. Pythons belong to Pythoninae subfamily, Boidae family. Pythons can be found in the tropics of Africa, Asia, and Australia. Similar to boas their females are larger than males (Mattison 87). The movement of both giant snakes looks magical. Though they have no legs, snakes can move fast and quite efficiently in all sorts of situations. Their long backbones comprise of between 100 and 400 vertebrae and, with a very special arrangement of muscles, they can adopt several efficient modes of locomotion and, furthermore, can switch virtually instantaneously from one to another. During this elegant side-to-side undulation, each part of the body passes across the same spot on the surface. There is also the concertina-type movement consisting of anchoring one part of the body on the substratum while the rest of it is either pulled or pushed along, clearly an efficient strategy when moving through narrow tunnels. Boas and pythons use the side-winding motion on moderately rugged surfaces, including unstable sand dunes. Pythons "coil themselves around their prey and with each breathe the creature takes the snake will squeeze a little tighter until they stop breathing completely" (Py thons 2007). Diet and Reproducing Pythons and boas can survive without food during a year. "Boa feeds on large lizards, small or moderate-sized birds, opossums, bats, mongooses, rats, and squirrels. It is a nocturnal hunter and uses its heat-sensitive scales to locate its prey" (Boa 2007). The main difference between boa and python is that pythons lay eggs while boas produce living boas. The female Python protects her eggs by coiling round them, and at this time her temperature rises several degrees, probably to promote hatching. Body Temperature and Vision Their body temperature depends on the environment, so they are said to be ectothermic. They regulate their body temperature by exploiting various behavioral attitudes such as warming themselves in the sun. Boas and pythons even seek warmth at night and, in tropical regions, they often rest on tracks which have accumulated heat during the day. In excessive heat, as in some deserts, they cool themselves by burrowing into the sand, leaving their eyes just above the ground (Mattison 2007). They are also able to adjust their body temperature by living nocturnally or diurnally or, in cold conditions, by hibernating in deep holes. Boas and pythons have classical senses: sight, smell, touch, probably taste (as suggested by the presence of taste buds in some snakes but not demonstrated in all) and hearing. With no movable eyelids, protection for their eyes is provided by a fixed transparent shield which is shed together with the whole skin during sloughing. Though vision in
